About Me...
I grew up in Chelsea, Michigan. Growing up my father was an elementary school principal, and my mother was a dental hygienist who went back to school to became a teacher. I have two older brothers, Tim and Casey. My whole family still lives in Michigan, and I am very happy to live within driving distance to them all. I especially enjoy gardening with my mom and am thrilled that my dad helps me take care of my lawn.

I grew up playing lots of sports and my brother, Tim convinced me that cross country would be a great sport to join so that I could stay in good shape during softball's off-season. Ever since joining cross country in high school, I have found running to be, dare I say it, somewhat enjoyable. So far I have run two marathons and six half marathons. I am so glad my brother encouraged me to do a sport that I was never that fond of.
I also have found a love for gardening. I am working on developing my green thumb. It's a good thing that my mom and Aunt Mary know what to do! We had a lot of fun this summer creating a new flower bed.

![]() I am entering into my ninth year of teaching. I began my career in Beijing, China. I had heard of a dynamic new international school that Michigan State University was piloting and jumped at the opportunity to be a part of its creation. For the first three years of my teaching career I taught kindergarten at 3e International School, a dual immersion bilingual school. It was a truly amazing experience to live and teach in another culture, while learning about so many other cultures as well. In my class, I had over 13 different nationalities represented. I still hold this teaching experience near and dear to my heart.
After moving back from Beijing in August of 2008, I started working for Haslett Public Schools. I have taught both fourth and fifth grade at Ralya Elementary for the past six years. I currently teach fourth grade and enjoy educating the future.
